What is the mental health training course?

Developed by an internationally recognised enterprise, MHFA England, this online course will qualify you as a mental health first aid champion. You will gain an understanding of common mental health illnesses and be given the confidence to promote mental health awareness. The course will give you the ability to spot signs of mental ill health and the skills to support positive wellbeing for yourself and others.

Who’s the course for?

This course is designed for those who want to gain a greater awareness of workplace mental health, to detect early symptoms of common mental health illnesses and the skills to support their own and others’ positive wellbeing.

Please be aware that this course focuses on employees in the workplace and covers subjects that some people may find distressing, including suicide and self-harm. If a delegate feels overwhelmed they can leave the course at any time.

Why is this mental health course so important now?

Since lock down began on 16th March 2020, mental health has worsened substantially (by 8.1% on average) as a result of the pandemic. Good mental health is linked to good physical health – both of which support positive social and economic outcomes for individuals and businesses.

More than two-thirds of adults in the UK (69%) report feeling somewhat or very worried about the effect COVID-19 is having on their life. The most common issues affecting wellbeing are worry about the future (63%), feeling stressed or anxious (56%) and feeling bored (49%).

Gaining an understanding of mental health illnesses and how to spot signs of a person’s mental decline is essential for you and your business. With our course, you will gain the confidence to support positive wellbeing for you and others around you.

About Us

Mental Health Midlands C.C

As a partner to “Mental Health First Aid” England (MHFA), we are part of a mission:

to train one in ten of the population Mental Health skills.

Mental health disorders account for almost a quarter of the total burden of ill health in the UK. Poor mental health is strongly associated with social and economic circumstances, including living in poverty, low-quality work, unemployment and housing. There is also a well-documented burden of mental health disorders following disasters, including evidence from previous viral outbreaks.

Based in Wolverhampton, we help, support and train individuals to bring Mental Health First Aid skills into their workplace. Emotional and mental health is important because it’s a vital part of your life. Mental health impacts your thoughts, behaviors and emotions. Being healthy emotionally can promote productivity and effectiveness in activities like your place of work, school or caregiving.

Theresa is a lovely lady, knowledgeable and caring and very experienced in this field. Would recommend without hesitation.
